Keeping West Texas bays running since 1988
Ken Neher founded AB Automotive Equipment in Lubbock in 1988 with a straightforward commitment: supply dependable commercial equipment and back it up with honest installation, maintenance, and field repair. In 2010, his son Kenny Neher took over leadership, carrying forward the same family-owned standard across the South Plains, the Permian Basin, the Panhandle, and the Concho Valley.

In recent years, the automotive equipment market has been flooded with online brokers who ship heavy crates to your shop curb and immediately disappear. When an equalizer cable stretches unevenly, a hydraulic power unit fails, or an R-1234yf recovery station throws a calibration fault code, an online middleman in another state cannot help you.

- We install what we sell: We drill and set code-compliant wedge anchors, verify concrete slab integrity, align carriages, and perform full load testing before handing over the keys.
- We carry critical parts and seal kits: Rather than waiting weeks for backordered overseas parts, we stock and source OEM cables, hydraulic cylinder packings, safety lock components, and vacuum solenoids.
- Personal, local accountability: When you call our office, you talk directly with Leslie, Kenny, or Chance—not an offshore call queue. We know West Texas shops by name and understand the cost of a bottlenecked bay.
Our commercial service scope
We work exclusively on commercial automotive and fleet equipment—dealerships, independent repair shops, tire stores, agricultural facilities, municipal maintenance barns, and oilfield fleet garages. (Please note: We service commercial shop machinery only; we do not repair consumer passenger vehicles.)

Kenny Neher Owner & Lead Equipment SpecialistKenny grew up in the business under his father Ken and took over company leadership in 2010. He leads major commercial bay installations, 2-post and 4-post lift layout design, hydraulic cylinder rebuilds, and heavy-duty fleet lift diagnostics across West Texas.

Leslie Neher Office Manager & Route DispatchLeslie oversees office operations, parts logistics, and field service dispatch. She handles customer service inquiries, coordinates technician routes from Lubbock to the Permian Basin and Panhandle, and tracks incoming data-plate photos to source parts before dispatch.

Chance Barrett Field Equipment TechnicianChance is on the road daily servicing shops throughout West Texas. He performs on-site lift installations, annual safety inspections, equalizer cable replacements, hydraulic cylinder repacking, R-1234yf A/C calibrations, and tire machine pneumatic repairs.
