When to Tag a Lift Out of Service Immediately
Tag a lift out of service immediately and call (806) 777-7390 if a carriage raises or lowers unevenly, safety locks fail to click in sync on both columns, hydraulic oil pools around the baseplate, cable strands begin fraying, or swing arms drift under load. Have the brand/model or snap a photo of the serial data plate on the column—we'll take it from there.

In high-volume tire shops, quick-lubes, and fleet bays, semi-annual inspections of equalizer cables, anchor bolts, and carriage locks help prevent costly bay downtime. Can you relocate and re-anchor existing shop lifts to a new building?
Yes. When you expand or move your shop, AB Automotive Equipment safely disassembles your existing 2-post, 4-post, or alignment lifts, transports them to the new facility, verifies concrete slab thickness and condition, drills and sets new code-compliant wedge anchors, replaces worn cables or seals while the lift is open, and tests the lift under load.
What causes a 2-post lift to raise unevenly or click out of sync?
When one carriage leads the other or safety locks click at different intervals, the cause is almost always stretched or frayed equalizer cables, worn cable sheaves (pulleys), air in the hydraulic lines, or an internal piston seal bypassing fluid inside one hydraulic cylinder. Operating an out-of-level lift risks dropping a vehicle—lower it onto its locks if safe, tag it out, and call AB at (806) 777-7390.
